Foods are mostly good, but the sushi rice is a major flaw, the rice is too salty and sticky, and the Nigiri sushi rice seems like shaped by a mold not sushi chef's hands. Maybe I got bad luck that my Uni is a little bit funky, but my Kanpachi and Ikura were perfect.
Had a excellent experience in here with my wife. The food arrived fast and the customer service is just great. Prices are convenient.
Amazing bento in California. Food is good, and sashimi is seasonal depends what they hv, is very fresh, and the bento is good for lunch and dinner not much choice, but everyday hv 10 special daily menus , affordable price with good quality foods. Here again , I want to try their dinner menu , is so good , delicious n affordable
A top place for tasty Japanese food. a preferred evening place. the bill was fair for the quality of food.
We were looking for a restaurant in Japan Town and decided to go to Laura. It was a wonderful experience. There was no wait to be seated. The food was delicious and plentiful! I had udon with tempura. Most places you get two pieces of shrimp. I got that pluxs an entire plate of assorted tempura! My husband got ntje mixed tempura and he has leftovers for dinner. I would totally recommend Laura. The menu had a lot of interesting items!
One of the few great places to eat in Japantown. Kaita is a small restaurant located across from Nijiya Market. They offer a variety of daily specials. This place has the best curry in San Jose. I could eat this curry with rice 7 days a week if I could. The curry is made daily and sometimes they run out or don't have any. I would definitely try the tonkatsu curry if they have it. The portion is perfect and the pork is thick and never fatty like most places. The saba shioyaki and other traditional dishes you find at Japanese restaurants are done very well at Kaita. If you don't feel like curry then definitely try one of their daily specials. If you are in Japantown and don't want the regular run of the mill of sauced covered sushi try Kaita.
The food is fantastic, the flavors r wonderful...
A fav place for quality Japanese food. Super place to meet and chat with coworkers. This place has an awesome atmosphere.
Come looking for hamburg steak, they had it and it was good. Reasonable price and service was quick.
Yummy tempura and chef selected sushi plate! Interior is unassuming compared to the welcoming exterior. The three menus are super confusing as they overlap in some categories. Overall tasty meal on cute Japantown street.
I had very high expectations of this restaurant based on the high reviews and friends' recommendations. Unfortunately, I was kind of disappointed. The negitoro don had reasonably fresh tuna, but, not fatty enough and the rice was way too tough and dry. The sushi combo also had pretty dry rice. The tempura was probably the highlight, big portion, not too thick in coating. The ginger pork was so so. Personally, I felt this was an average Japanese restaurant
Simplified Japanese menu with exponential flavor and freshness. Not many tables.
Authentic Japanese food. Love their lunch special!
Very unique place, warm and friendly. Excellent food.. I will be having dinner here!
Premium Sashimi lunch 30 bucks is overpriced. Quality is good but there is only one piece of uni, salmon and toro.Oyako Don is below average.Ok to give it another try for popular pork curry dish.
Good food. I always get something off of the board of specials.
Would certainly recommend trying this place. Awesome vibes, tasty food, excellent customer service. Great work.
Japanese food, mmm, yummy. Looking forward to a return visit. Menu is like a place in San Francisco I liked.
Love this mom and pop Japanese place in the heart of Japan Town. Love their sakura rice bowl on their special. This time we got 2 different rice bowls. One with eel and one with fried pork chop
Lovely place. Our favorite
japanese food and the atmosphere at this place is super good. Looking forward to a return trip. The bill was fair.
My best friend and I stopped in to have a drink and ended up staying for dinner. It was super cold that night, randomly raining, but we sat outside with the heat lamps and it worked out fine!Food always arrives quickly after you order. In the meantime you have the option to enjoy a variety of excellent mimosas or adult lattes! So many adult beverage options!!
Friendly staff, but a small portion for Fish Bento.
It has a Japanese atmosphere, food is very nice, and I really recommend this place.
not fancy and not a huge sushi menu, but tasty apps and decent simple rolls at good prices. service is a bit sporadic.
Came on Saturday for lunch and ordered the negitoro don. It was good, and with the soup side, it was a generous portion.
I could eat here everyday. This is one of my top 3 in the Bay Area! â¤ï¸ the food is beyond amazing, the ambiance is as if you were in JP, and the staff makes you feel like home.
Our favorite in Japan town. Very Family friendly. The best Udon anywhere. Good sushi, but not fancy with tons of sauces. Excellent tempura, terriaki, etc. Great daily specials. Remember to look at the expanded menu also.
This is in the heart of japantown on Jackson Street so there are actually about six other Japanese restaurants on that one block. That being said this is my favorite overall. It has good sushi and good hot food and seems pretty authentic. There are always a group of old Japanese friends that hang out there on Friday nights which is a good sign. The menu is extensive and priced well.Staff is very friendly and attentive and the food comes out relatively quick. The only downside is that it's not a very big dining room.
What a fantastic place to have lunch or dinner. Traditional Japanese fare with a little sushi for about $10-12 per person, excellent and attentive service, generous portions, and most importantly, delicious food.
Great simple Japanese food, reasonable price and generous portions.Good selections of daily specials. Very delicious!
Provide great Japanese food
Love the daily specials!
A very authentic Japanese restaurant located in San Jose's Japan town. This was my first visit as I found that the previous restaurant I had frequented (Tsugaru) had closed. Inside the restaurant is small but has both table and bar seating. The menu selection covers all the bases for a Japanese restaurant. I chose the Katsu Don bowl for my meal and was not disappointed. The food was good and the staff was very attentive. You may need to arrive early during meal times to snag a table if you are with a group as they fill up quickly.
Japanese food at this location - delicious. This location is absolutely outstanding. Prices are decent for the quality.
Good spot for quality Japanese food. Had a sister come into town and asked me to take her here again. Prices that are reasonable.
Excellent and tasty food, I love the ambience the spot has, and the staff members were helpful. Will surely visit here again.
Very great and warm service. The fried chicken rice is delicious and in large portion. Lunch bentos are good, too. Always a line during lunch hours. Must try their "nabe"s.
Excellent food and great service for lunch or dinner with reasonable prices. Parking can be tricky but a short walk is worth it.
Small little restaurant, great food for the price.
japanese food, mmm, quality stuff. Very appetizing. The service here is outstanding. The place has a good feel to it. Menu is similar to a restaurant in Jacksonville I loved.
japanese food and the feeling here is quality. Visited on a Wednesday I think. Bring your appetite because portions are large. Food is similar to a cafe in Portland I liked.
Outstanding spot for japanese food. Visited on Sat I believe.
Kaita is my favorite Japanese restaurant in this area. I would describe it as tasty, fresh, and by the book. It’s a great, traditional style Japanese restaurant. Don’t forget to check out the specials. I enjoy the regular menu so much, I did not check it at first, but once I did, I was pleasantly surprised to find some delightful dishes there as well. I highly recommend the Kaita lunch special bento if you are visiting for lunch :)
Excellent place to grab lunch, the food is very traditional home style cooking and the portions are surprisingly big. I highly recommend the meat bento for hungry people and the green tea is very yummy as well. I will be coming back whenever I can and will definitely show my friends, colleagues and yelp community how great this spot is! :)
Amazing food, very fresh and tasty. Highly recommend that you order off of the specials menu. Broiled fish head, fish cheek, etc are always exceptional.
We arrived shortly after opening at 11:30am on a Thursday. This must be a popular place with people who live and work in the area - it was packed by the time we left. I had the California Roll and Teriyaki lunch combo which was very fresh and tasty. The service was good and my wife enjoyed her mackerel lunch. I would definitely eat here again. BTW - this was recommended by a lady from the manju shop next door - one of our favorite spots for many years (go early to get the best selection).
Good food, good service, a bit of a wait to get in.
Nice place for Japanese food. Service treated us so kindly. Prices were good for how much you get. Food and atmosphere reminds me of Atlanta.
This place has been a staple of mine when I am in the area for about 10 years. It was still as good yesterday as it was back then. The fish is very high quality and the service is excellent.
